Ive got too many rods and reels that ive accumulated over the years! Best rod ive ever owned was a 7” rod my grandfather made! Ive paired that with about 4 different reels over the years and she is still going hard to this day 50 odd years old! In bought rods and reels inshore and estuary i love my Abu Garcia Veritas 3 7”2 paired with my Daiwa BG MQ 5000 goes hard offshore and bigger i mostly use Two different rod and reels both rods are Hamachi GT’n’doggie one is both 10 foot but one is pe 5 7000 reel the other is pe 10 10000 reel both with daiwa saltiga dogfight reels so expensive setups but will easily pull in a 200 pound shark with ease or catch a massive barrel “bluefin tuna”.
I use ugly stick or shimano rod and I will use many reels to see how it works
Should I use float fishing for kayak fishing? I want to take my kayak to Panama City beach(maybe near some bridges), but I have no experience in salt water. Also, which rod/reel combo would work best for that?

To pick your rod and reel you must think about what type of fish you are going for.
I always pick a 6ft rod because they are small and easy to pack
Lol I picked the $9.99 combo at Wal-Mart put 20lb test on it. And fished it for 3 years and it's still going trout bass. Perch calico Bonita no problems
